I'm toying with the idea of points being used for people to have garrenteed song picks, but it will devolve into the best scorers getting to pick all the time unless the price on the song picks are high or there's obvious limits on how often a player can pick songs (Not saying it won't happen). I don't have many personal creds to instate a points for creds system. The points you get for your rank on the songs will likely change soon as well.

How would people feel about using a number of points to mess up an opponent's score? People who had they're score messed up might have to resubmit a score, so that fluke run you got on a tough song would have to be resubmitted.

I'm also working on a v2 of the spreadsheet that will reduce the amount of time I spend updating stuff and is still easy to compare scores with. I hope to be using it next week, but that's not a promise.

Song suggestions for next week are encouraged.

I don't like the idea of giving advantages to better players. Some of my best ranks so far have been the songs that I've picked. If the better players are always picking the songs, they will continue to have an advantage. Also, the point of this thread is to comparing scores of people of similar skill, screwing up each other's scores seems to cloud this objective and once again the better players will use this to the advantage to put the weaker players even lower. Plus, people don't always have time to go replay a song on a whim because someone 'blasted' your score. I have a newborn kid and I have to make time to play. I may not get to play for a good part of a week at a time.

Pretty much, all of the ideas in your post benefit the stronger players to further suppress the weaker scorers. I just want to compare scores and be ranked by raw score each week.

I pretty much agree with TheSaxRunner05. Using the points we earn to lower someone else's score doesn't seem fair because all of us are at different skill levels. I like the idea of using our points for bonuses, but your proposal seems to only benefit the most skilled D4 players.

Well, there's some serious negative feedback on the messing with your opponent's score idea. I suggested it under the idea that it would mostly be the more skilled d4 players using the ability against other more skilled d4 players.

I was just hoping to find an actual use of points. They seem pretty arbitrary at the moment. I spent a good chunk of the afternoon trying to come up with 'fun' things to do with them. Honestly, creativity's not one of my strong points. Any suggestions with something to do with them would be entertained. Thanks for past and future feedback.

Honestly, it'd help my more automated spreadsheet if I didn't have to worry about playing with points. I don't want that to stand in the way of some awesome idea.

I suggested the points basically to have a rank total to compare how your scores fared against the other players. Maybe starting from this week, someone could make a "trophy" banner for the sig for most cumulative total points. It could say something like "D4 Rivalry 1st Place" and have banners for 2nd and 3rd as well. The problem would be that A) someone would have to make the banners and 2) they might change week to week and people aren't always quick to change banners and such. Those are some pro's and cons.

Can anyone else think of another use for points, other than comparing how we rank against each other? Maybe sig badges for reaching certain amounts of points?

How about none of those silly stuff and just remove the points total and just have the weeks won and use that as the main point system...
