Songs Of The Week (February 9th, 2012)
This week we bring you four new files with steps by folks whose names have not graced front page recently.
bob bob‘s last file was in 2007, and we last saw steps from HammyMcSquirrel back in 2009.
Additionally, foilman8805 and ninjaKIWI have their first files added to FFR- congratulations to our new official Simfile Authors and our returning veteran steppers!
As always, the veteran’s song is listed in blue and will be public in two weeks.

the earth blew up is an absolutely terrible file and I’m kind of mad that it was accepted how it is right now. a ton of misrhythms, minijacks near the end of the file ruin the flow of the song, those one handed trills are stupid. i honestly don’t see how this file was accepted, let alone a ++ from the judges.
i’m restepping this for the next batch, this file is garbage.

Alone Again is pretty fun, the 16th part should be challenging enough for anyone around that skill level. Easy file, AAA-bait. Rocket Flight is also fun, imo that little minijack went to nothing but I only played it twice (AAA’d the second time lol). Good job getting files in game \o/
Powerpuff Gabberz isn’t anything spectacular, just your average Dj Sharpnel file that plays like it’s from 2007. BF sightread because I’m bad.

Yeah I misspelled Hammy’s name the first time, my bad.
Powerpuff plays like a Rebirth file from 2007 lol, kind of a blast from the past. I didn’t mind that it felt dated though because it was pretty fun.
Haven’t played any of the others yet.

How the hell did this get two ++ ratings? I would have maybe given it a conditional accept at the best.
*sigh* it always baffles me that the FFR judges seem to jizz all over awkward pattern files. Maybe I should just make a file of all split jumptrills and cameljacks and stupid difficulty spikes just so I can watch it get +++++ amagawd best file ever 400 simfile artist points

Cant play Powerpuff yet cuz lol 3 year requirement, but other that EVERY other DJ Sharpnel song i’ve heard in my life, i like this one because it not just dissonant high pitched schoolgirls trying to sing..

returning from TS just to say – this is -exactly- why I had a fit in the Queue/Batch discussion thread about this file. I’m seeing other users wondering the same thing that I was, and now I don’t feel like a complete fucking moron about ranting as hard as I did. I like bob bob and all, but even HE knew that the ratings were a bit off and it’s his own file.

There were actually several other judges outside the group that were questioning why it received such high marks as well and if I’m not mistaken AJ was in that group and was going to +? it but ended up passing it.

also, I was in the group that judged this file – I passed it to someone else; had I judged this, it would have gotten no higher than a [+?], yet, somehow it managed to get 15++ after my pass.
