I Can Haz Vet Yet?
G’day everyone 
So, with a lot of talk about how the Veteran status is attained, (And a lot of complaining about the 3 year wait), It has come to our attention that changing this system to something a little more ‘effort’ based would be a fantastic idea for all you non-Vet arrow smashers. With the sheer amount of the game plays it takes to hit milestones over 3 billion, relaxing the Veteran requirement for time seems pretty logical.
So here’s how it’s gonna go down.
For each milestone you hit after 3 billion, your time requirement for Veteran status will be lowered by 1 month then a further 2 months, then a further 3 months, etc, etc… Until the new minimum time of 8 months for 10 billion points. We are hoping that this might inspire some players to play the game more in an effort to get access to veteran perks such as the R^2 Engine Beta & SotW.

…and to lessen confusion we’ve included a neat little graph to the page, and a basic text conversion of each milestone.
Visiting the page tells you if you are within the new guidelines and gives you either a neat little message telling you that you are now a vet, or a message telling you how long/many points you need to get there. There is also a Vet Calculator on this page so you can find out exactly how far away from that shiny blue name you are.
Many thanks go to Sprite- and emerald000 for throwing together the page and working out the equations to make this happen. Hopefully this will see a lot more people ‘earning’ their Veteran status without having to wait for 3 years to get it!
Leave a comment here with your thoughts on this idea or any bugs you might find when trying to use the tool. Unfortunately for the current Veterans, the ~hype~ was all for the non-Veterans this time around. But don’t worry, we have much more in store for all of you in the very near future!

Glad I won’t have to whore for points based on years just to keep vet status. I’m too casual for that.
Nice change for non-vets. Waiting to become a veteran of the game didn’t seem quite right.

Side note that I forgot to add: Should also be something from the other side, having been a member for a long time as opposed to having more score. This way people who have been around for a long time can still contribute in the vet forums at least even if they don’t really play much.

^ There was a few ideas thrown around about this, but the long and short of it is that Veteran perks are pretty much exclusively applicable to the game itself (aside from the shiny blue forum colour).
Don’t quote me on this, but there might be something different in store for user perks regarding member length and post count. Thanks for your thoughts alloyus~ ;D

Great change. I would also like to suggest a minimum grand total requirement to attain Veteran… something symbolic like 1 billion. To avoid people registering, playing 3 songs, quit, come back 3 years later and are then ‘veterans’.

That’s unfair! Ive been a memeber for 5 years… i should get an automatic veteran just because ive been on this website for so damn long. im never gunna be good enough to get 3 billion points no matter how much i play. it took me 1 years to get to 1 mill…

Zeldagurlfan, jsyk you don’t have 1 million. You have 1 billion. Just do that three times.
Even if veteran was skill-based, which it’s not, doesn’t mean they should change it just so someone who “sucks” can have the privilege of getting it. If you can’t get 3b, you can’t have vet. It doesn’t exist to be automatically acquired by everyone. That’s kind of the point.

Zel: If you made the effort to get 30 million points a day, you could have veteran status in less than 2 months!! Giving people auto-vet because of length sort of betrays the purpose of the veteran perks. A 5yo user with 1 billion points vs. a user who has 7 billion points in 2 years. Giving the long term user access to the R^2 Engine Beta seems a bit pointless, when this is a perk based on gameplay, not member length. Users of all skill are capable of getting access to the veteran perks, I hope we see you on the blue side soon~

herpderp i know ffr gives the site a purpose, but if you look at it from my perspective, its frustrating that i cant get as many points as others so if anything, it doesnt make me wanna play since i dont wanna play for something i cant achieve. i understand since it makes more sense that i gotta play for it, especially that every account is already eligible for vet status (like jae said) so if there was a member length for vet status then all the alts would therefore acquire vet perks too and then that’s a no-no.
i just wish i could get vet status faster. ohwell. >3<

@alloyus: you can be a veteran of the site, but ‘Veteran‘ status is directly related to the game. I think this is where some of the older users are getting mixed up with the textbook definition of veteran, and the FFR Veteran user group.
I just hope that the idea of gaining the title might inspire some users to put a little bit of dedication towards the game. An long term user of the site with 0 points could see themselves as a ‘Veteran’ with 33million points/day for 3 months~

by far one of the stupidest systems to show your a vet or not. this simply just says play alot. not be a vet. my recorded date is 2005. i’ve been playing this game since you guys literally had no songs except like switch back mc frontalot for rap and like a couple of other songs. but because my score isn’t high enough because i have a life and don’t play 24/7 i can’t get the status when tech i’m what you would call a vet. look up the definition of vet is all i’m saying FFR because your system fails. vet is HOW LONG TIME PLAYED ETC. not how many games you play or w/e to get a grandtotal. vet’s shouls only be people who have had accounts (active still such as mine) from like a past time period like i said mine is 2005. i don’t know how much more vet you can get than that but w/e like i said glad i don’t play this game that much cause clearly even if you suppport this game as long as i have you won’t get credited they only care about HOW MUCH you play it not how long you have played it . EPIC FUCKN FAIL FFR. can bet half your vets aren’t even actual vets just nerds who play alot good job

How about the flip opposite? I’ve been a member of the site for 8.72 years, but am at 2.2 billion points, because I’m a part of the site and the community in more ways than just playing the game.

…And what about a status further than Veteran? I mean, cmon, for the people that play obsessively, they can get Veteran status as soon as 8 months into being on the site? What about the people like myself that have been regularly on the site for almost 10 years. Juuuust saaaayin.
