Today’s song on ThirdStyle is an exquisite progressive song called Mirage Garden. Xi, a musician who’s tried a bit of many styles, has really created a superb blend here of fast and active guitar, and well-embellished, jazzy piano. You’ll notice that the chart stepped by Halogen- takes advantage of the powerful melodies from these instruments. Thanks to Nocturne as well for providing the background image.

It’s funny to see 20+ year old people making a million accounts in an effort to manipulate a number counter. Pretty mature, hm? Also, I spent quite a bit of time on this simfile, tinkering it around a lot before feeling like it was right. I revised the hard chart four different times to get where it is now.

analogy: telling FFR here to just enjoy the files they get for Christmas is just like telling a little boy to have fun with a lump of coal they received, when their friends next door got the awesome sled that they wanted.

It’s been over a year since the site’s return, and everyone needs to move on with the past. The site had a period when there was no staff, no new files, and constant crashes. We are past that point now. The community is expecting the game to get new, fresh, and good content.

As I said on TS, I don’t care about FFR releasing a parody/song about something like this, but the timing of it could not have been any worse. And yeah, I happen to like the TS engine, not just because the engine is better, but because the people there at least have some sort of care about what’s going on.

Who chooses when which songs get released, anyway? THEY clearly are not doing their jobs; we have tons of better files in queue waiting to get released. If people can get banned for saying such harmful things as “lol TS”, well… whatever.

I enjoy letting TS run events like these for us! This definitely isn’t ENTIRELY in their favor or anything. You know, making them look AMAZING and making us look not AMAZING. Creating a couple event that would put both FFR and TS on the same level is so hard, it’s good they found a way to do it for us~ I’m glad to have files for Christmas. I also eat coal.

for the record, lolTS = trolling, and trolling a community from another site that’s collaborating in this community. I’d do the same thing too. People need to get off of their damn pedestals of complacency in thinking that they can do whatever they want.

The overall purpose of this event is to drop the drama between the sites in an effort to spark more interest in rhythm-gaming, so it doesn’t die off. It’s about us working together, not a competition over song quality…no one is winning and no one is losing. The only people gaining anything are the players since they have 12 new releases to enjoy.
Both sites have really awesome things planned for this event…it’s only day 4 and I can guarantee that you will get some good FFR treats down the road.

Pretend TS doesn’t exist for a second and ask yourself if you would want the two most recent songs even as weekly releases. They’re not only bad when you stand them up to Cirno’s… although that does make it a lot more obvious.
I hope you’re right about good FFR treats. I imaging a lot of people expect to have this made up to them, competition or not.

Stop comparing and look at the bigger picture. Isn’t it also ironic that TS was initially looked down upon in regards to song choices, and now people are jealous of their releases? Comparing only leads to hypocrisy and disappointment, so try to be in the holiday spirit that this event is trying to promote. See what Vote4Nixon said above.

If you guys “don’t care” so much, why are you responding to our complaints? Seriously.
Also, there ARE no rules to the internet. Rules to the site can be broken as easy as walking outside. No one gives a fuck if they break the rules, and it’s silly to think people like LJ and Attractive care.
The fact still remains that TS has been getting better uploads, and you guy’s song choices are completely stale. Stop giving us a hard time because us, the players, seem to care more about the game than you seem to.

I as one person don’t agree with the songs but that doesn’t make my statement completely correct, I’ve just proven -my- case and anyone else who agrees with me. It is nice to see new songs for Christmas time, it’s just the wrong style of songs to me.

Listen, both sites have their merits, and there’s no reason to be comparing them. Hell, I’m jealous of the fact that you have so many songs available for release for the event AND tourny AND 4 releases a week…can’t say we have that at TS. The beauty is no one is really forcing anyone to “switch teams” or even participate in the event if they don’t want to. The songs chosen by each site are part of accepted files in each site’s respective batches (though TS doesn’t really have a batch cuz we don’t get enough submissions!!), so you woulda had them anyway. Just sit back and enjoy (at least some) of the event without making it a rivalry. It’s really not, and the fact that admins of both sites are trying to convey that message should make it clear.

My point is that these songs aren’t good enough for FFR by its own standards. If you want this to be a sports analogy, understand that TS isn’t even in the same stadium as the game I’m commenting on. I’m fine with the event. I honestly think it’s a good idea. However, and of course this can be applied to everything else and is completely subjective, it could have been done better.
The FFR and TS communities have a history of disputes. If I remember correctly, TS attempted to be FFR’s successor. Don’t make me debate on this, saying it was only implied and people made assumptions. The name Third Style alone proves my point.
Now, let’s look at these complaints. Two communities that conflict, now have a couple event and are all of a sudden completely friendly with each other. I’m sorry, the FFR admins do not speak for the community. They may make the rules, but the members make the community. With members who are against TS, it’s hard to NOT account for them being against this event. Files being released does not make up this event as a whole, the problem lies with TS being a part of it.
Of course it could happen, we could all be friends and hold hands. But, as of right now, where does the community stand? Well, you can get hints from the comments people are making. “lol TS” may be considered trolling, but it’s also an opinion from members in THIS community.

The lol TS thing said once I let slide, then twice, then again it happens with the multiple upvotes and down votes. It’s not as if they got a super long ban it was a whole 2 days. It’s different to express dislike in something and another to just troll about it.
As per what TS’s members do, we have no control over there. It’s up to their moderation as to where they want to draw the line.

K, you guys seem to be taking shit I say A) too seriously, and B) completely different from the way I wanted you to take it.
I’m merely saying that, while you staff and simfile creators might think FFR is the best damn thing ever since the bee’s knees, you’re not showing it by giving us songs that are really bad in comparison to TS’s. While I enjoyed both the files, once was enough. Why the heck are we bringing files in like Submission Rules? No offense MarioNintendo, but I seriously feel like I wasted my life (which is NOT the point when playing a game) by playing that song.
I don’t mean to get in anyone’s shit here. Seriously. I just voice my opinion, and hope people take it with a grain of salt most of the time.
I also understand you guys “brought this game back from the dead”. But that doesn’t give you a right to beat it over everyone’s heads with it, either.
The TS hate has to stop, but you’re giving the people who are saying it NEGATIVE ATTENTION when banning them. You are showing emotion, which is what the trolls want.
tl;dr, I’m sorry if anyone felt offended, but take this game’s song choices more seriously. Also stop banning the trolls, and stop caring what they do. It’s not helping. I also really don’t want to become a pariah, so sorry if I said anything upsetting or stupid here.

Ok, I realize that there’s a whole thing between FFR and TS, which we probably can’t do anything about. I don’t really find the file THAT bad, because I saw it as a general attempt to be funny. Subjective, I know. Still, I know this is going to sound dumb to some people, but FFR has over 1000 files, most of which are truly stepped to be good for the community. One file like this shouldn’t make you angry… it’s a one-off thing that happens maybe 1 in every 400 songs. Plus, the whole event is only 1/3 of the way through… we’re bound to get files that are generally accepted by the community. It’s not like we’re being shafted here – Mario just found this as a good opportunity to have some fun, and I don’t think it’s a good thing that it’s being bashed to hell like this. As for comparing our songs to TS’, what can I say? All of these songs were reviewed and thought to be “good” for both communities. It may be luck of the draw that they got “better” songs, as you might say, but in all it’ll be a good event for everyone. I read before that TS was looked “down upon” for having only “long rock songs” (I only read this, not my opinion). Now, FFR is being laughed at by some of its own members because we got a bad file (as was said by some of you guys). I don’t want to sound like a negative nancy here, but it’s only one file, and the whole argument between TS and FFR is getting old for me and others, after over a year of FFR being revived.

It’s not cool. I realize I have a different taste in music than most, but wtf, who puts a song like this in a game? Really? Take this stuff seriously. It’s not just some random Flash game. Remember, at one point KONAMI was going to buy this game. This game has gone from semi-respectable to wtfisthisshit? because of files like this. We have something to be proud of here on FFR. It’s really nice to have two rivaling communities work together to make an event happen for both sides of the field. Please don’t let that rivalry stir up the drama and jeopardize the event from happening in the future. Comments like “they get better music/files” is completely ignorant to the work many simfilers on FFR tried to put through, and even if the files are “not fun” these days, at least respect that there are some fun files on FFR in the past. Cmon guys. Appreciate what you have and stop being jealous about everything.

I think we are losing sight of what both sites are really about. Enjoy the rhythm gaming experience. Stepfile artists and admins work their behinds off to make the sites enjoyable, no need to argue over silly aspects that don’t really matter.

I’m a member of both communities. When I play I have a tab open for FFR and TS, they are equally amazing rhythm games. It is true that TS has gotten better songs, but hey, FFR has already lived through a crash that would have destroyed any other online community. I cant say that the people on here are the same as before, (some of you guys are jerks) but we all love the same thing, no matter what package it comes in! SO learn some patience, it’s not like you have to pay for any of this.

Ignoring the argument just to post something relevant to the event.
It’s good to see FFR and TS working together, hopefully it stays this way, don’t want any more unnecessary rivalry.
Also, the stepfile of this song is fucking excellent AJ, good job. The pattern placement captures the song’s elements very well.
