Serenitech (Lights) [4.5/10]
PERMS OK
SYNC OK
2.380: This echo is pretty audible; putting another 16th on col 3 here would make a lot of sense, and also at 3.415.
3.846: Missing note.
7.811: Can afford this note.
10.225-10.742: This shouldn't have these abstractions, the vocals are completely different than the motif that starts on 10.742 (the first one at 9.794 is fine).
---
The wubs stuff mostly starts there, and there are significant issues to note. Firstly, There's no clear motifs to hold on to which makes most of the chart a very vague blur of abstracted sounds. Many of the abstractions do make sense on their own, but when so much of the song is charted that way, a lot of it becomes hardly coherent let alone intuitive. This isn't just a "this is too hard" matter either; HFF for an extreme example is much more difficult yet its 16ths+12ths super fast js is intuitive relative to the song and how it's consistent throughout. So, here are some notable elements that either dont't quite fit, are incorrect, or feel overdone (not exhaustive):
19.420-19.535: Just a note at 19.478 is sufficient.
20.053-20.397: This part still has slides in it, so a fast 24ths "js" doesn't quite work, especially the jumps. Moreover, the 16th (12) at 20.484 isn't correct; the jump should be a 24th at 20.455 and then an added single note at 20.512.
21.087-21.259: Could very well be a single 4th note on col 2. Nothing seems to indicate 24ths, let alone a one handed trill. If anything, there's a 16th at 21.173 that has its place.
21.259-21.432: This causes a spiky 343 and is incorrect quantization, it should be 24ths.
21.475: Much too subtle in an already saturated section.
22.121-22.553: This really is just spiky to be spiky. It also ignores the piano note at 22.294.
22.869-24.190: It's pretty, but it doesn't make much sense rhythmically especially with the transitions to and from the 24ths and 48ths which creates weird 48th flams (23.271, 23.530, 23.788, 24.047).
45.570-46.432: This would be a much needed break, there's no need for these vague 8ths.
47.121: This would be totally fine as just a single (13) jump for example.
51.087-51.432: Not sure what is abstracted there. At most there could be the 8th and the 12th at 51.259 & 51.317.
1:02.811-1:03.328: Why?
---
27.294: Pretty cool approach to this distinct little section.
26.604: Why the minijack there?
29.708 & 30.225: No jumps there, much less impactful than the chords which already are jumps.
30.915: Jump there for consistency with the chords layering.
31.432-32.466: Jumps there simply make the previous layering of the chords muddy since these go to such soft sounds.
34.277 & 34.621: Now even the 16ths?
36.346: Missing note.
37.294: It's odd that this loud chord shares the same layering (hand) as say 35.139 or most other hands in this section.
42.035 & 43.415: These should really be the only 16ths in this quads section.
The rest of the chart was inspected multiple times both at full and slower speeds. Stopping the notes here since the concern is a generalized one that would require more than just punctual changes.
This is a brave attempt at top end difficulties, props for giving it a solid go. Unfortunately, even though the song is quite chaotic at times, there is a very distinct lack of restraint on the abstraction and layering that makes the chart super vague. Due to that, most wubs sections end up feeling like long uninterrupted strings of abstract rhythms rather than coherent, well layered rhythms that are augmented with some abstractions. It may be argued that the song's high amount of wubby sounds might justify a certain extent of chaos, but it is also arguable that not all songs are good candidates for charts with a maximalist approach; this might not be one. There is a Lot going on in this song and charting every single sound, especially with multiple notes each with how these abstractions are done, is certainly much too overdone to provide an intuitive top difficulty chart. A point of comparison would be "dreamless wanderer" where there's also a huge focus on wubs abstractions, but the main difference is that dreamless has a pretty simple rhythm on top of the wubs, whereas this has complex rhythms that already makes it difficult to keep track of what's going on. There might be a ways to get this song ingame, but it would probably require a careful selection of layering and motifs.
