   That's his ability. Whenever he defeats an opponent, he rips out their heart. That's why he has so many. And that's why he's the oldest member of the Akatsuki, because he possese a rare jutsu that allows him immortality. In case one heart is broken, he'll have plenty more to keep him alive, which makes it vary hard to beat him indefinately. That's his specialty.
