The Dark Beginning

scientist #1: “have you ran the diagnostics yet?”
tom: “yea it seems to be working just as planned.”
scientist #2: “well it seems were ready for a field test.”
scientist #1: “ok I’ll get the boss he will want to see this.”

the scientist walked over to a intercom system attached to the side of the wall.

scientist #1: “sir, it is ready, we are about to conduct a field test now.”
????: “ok, I will be down in a minute, and I would like to test this one personally.”
scientist #1: “yes sir, I’ll get it ready.”

the scientist then walked over to a table where on top of it laid a mechanical device build for someone to wear over and around their arm, it had the company’s logo on it, a dark cloud with the letters DCF inside it, and he picked it up. it was a dark blue color with orange lines and patterns on it, it was a work of art. soon a cloaked figure walked in.

????: “ok, give it here.”
scientist #2: “ok sir, shall i prepare a pokemon?”
????: “no, I think I shall test it on something else. tom, come here for a minute please.”
tom: “yes sir?” he asks as he walks over to the boss.
????: “this is a lucky day for you, now do you still have your espeon with you?”
tom: “why, yes I always have her with me.”
????: “good, send it out.”
tom: “uh, what?”
????: “you heard me, now send it out!”
tom: “o-o-okay.” he then threw out his pokeball and it popped open.
espeon: “espeon?” she looked around in surprise. (what, master never takes us out when he’s at work...)
????: the boss then threw a pokeball out of the arm with the machine on it, and it captured espeon.
tom: “what??? that was my espeon!! give her back!” he yelled as he strode towards his boss.
????: “you know what, I think I’ll keep her for awhile, and for you tom.” quickly guards walked into the room and grabbed tom. “I think you need to find a new job.” the guards then took tom by his arms, as he was kicking and yelling for his pokemon back, and threw him outside after taking his keys away.

tom: “I swear I am going to get my espeon back no matter what.” he then walked back to his car and drove home.

when he entered the house he took another pokeball out and opened it.
tom: “come on out umbreon.”
umbreon: “umbre!” umbreon then looked around and when he didn’t see espeon he started to worry. tom saw this and explained to umbreon what happened.
umbreon then went over to his and espeon’s bed and lay down in it crying over the loss of his mate.
tom: “umbreon, don’t be sad, we’ll get her back. but first things first, we’re going to need some stuff before we can rescue her.”

soon after he caught tom’s espeon he let her out of her pokeball inside a small containment cell. he then closed the door behind her.
????: “you’ll be staying here until we’re ready for you, and if you cause any trouble we’ll kill both umbreon and tom.”
espeon just laid there on the floor crying and hoping that umbreon and her master, tom were all right.

throughout the week umbreon trained vigorously and perfected his attacks while tom ran around and got the things they would need for their rescue attempt.
tom: “nice one umbreon!” he said as umbreon blasted a huge bolder into tiny fragments. “just 5 more targets and you’re done for today.”
umbreon: “bree!”

but for espeon things were quite different.
she was inside a testing room where pokemon were sent after her and would they battle until one of them would faint.
espeon: “(pant) man (pant) that was my third win, I can’t keep this up much longer.”
suddenly a large shadow loomed over her
espeon: “huh...?”
????: “heh, u won’t last more than five seconds against me!” said a voice that came from the pokemon in front of her.
espeon looked up and in front of her was a salamance.
salamance: “dragon claw!” and that was the last thing espeon heard as she flew backwards and slammed into the wall and was out.

back at the lab the had espeon hooked up to several machines while they drew blood samples as they monitored her heart rate.
scientist #1: “sir, the machine is doing as expected and is now increasing dark type moves and making her more powerful.”
????: “good, good, just make sure this one actually lives during and after the experiment.”
scientist #1: “so far so good.”
epseon woke up and found herself inside a large cylinder shaped tube and above her a dark cloud started to form. suddenly the cloud suddenly surrounded espeon and as she screamed out in pain, her eyes turned red, and her body color started to change to black.

tom: “ok umbreon, as soon as I get these explosives ready we can head out.” he said to umbreon using a communicator hooked over his ear.
umbreon: “I hope we’re not to late, otherwise I got my fur all messed in training for no good reason.” he said back, with a similar device in his own ear.
tom: “I know what you mean, but seriously umbreon, your fur isn’t that important right now.”
umbreon: “am I the only one here that cares about actually looking nice?”

espeon was now back inside the testing room and all around her were fainted pokemon, barley even alive.
scientist #2: “it seems that dark espeon’s moves have increased ten fold in power.”
????: “amazing! you have done well this time.” (with this kind of power I could control the world) ???? thought to himself with an evil laugh.

tom and umbreon had spent their day practicing every detail of their plan, waiting for night time so they could break into the dark circle foundation.

that night they got into their car and drove to the building where espeon was being kept. everything was quite as he stared out across the street at the huge SPCC building, inside was his prize... and his pokemon. he got out of his car and made his way to the building, he turned around and looked back at umbreon who was sitting there in the passenger’s seat.

tom: “well, you coming or am I going to storm the castle, so to speak, by myself?”
umbreon: “i would let you go by yourself, I don’t want to break a nail, but espeon’s in there and I have to get her out. by the way, the communicator you built works really well, and it even matches my fur!”
tom: “thanks, and I’m glad you’re coming with. now, will you do the honors?”
umbreon: “gladly. shadow ball!” a dark mass flew towards the doors and blew them off their hinges.
tom and umbreon started running towards them.
tom: “ok, when we get inside you go after espeon and bring her back and I’ll go get the device.”
umbreon: “got it!”
tom: “remember it’s three rights, a left, then down the middle corridor till you get to a flight of stairs. go down there and espeon is in the forth containment cell on the left.” he said as he drew his gun.
umbreon: “ok let’s meet back at the car, you still got those explosives on you?”
tom: “yup, and good luck.”
umbreon: “thanks, you too!” umbreon started running down the hallways toward where espeon was being held. meanwhile tom made his way to the lab.

umbreon burst into the long hallway where the pokemon were stored and soon found espeon’s cage, but when he looked inside, it was empty.

????: “well, well, well, what do we have here?” said a voice from behind him
umbreon turned around and saw espeon standing there.
umbreon: “espeon! i missed you so much! are you ok? how did you escape? come on lets get out of here, you can tell me on the way!” he said as he started to walk towards espeon.
espeon: “I don’t think so. quick attack!”
umbreon: “wha, why are you attacking me? espeon come on stop messing around before you ruin my fur! ...espeon?” he was hit hard by espeon’s quick attack and slid backwards.
espeon: “come on, this isn’t any fun. this is to easy! psychic.” she then lifted umbreon up into the air and flung him to the ground.
umbreon: “ugh, what has gotten into you espeon? you know i hate it when people make me break a nail.” he said as he struggled to get up

meanwhile,
tom kicked open the doors leading to the lab and shot two guards who were starting to pick up their own weapons and they fell to the floor dead.
tom: “that’s for taking my espeon you bitch!” he spat at the dead bodies. tom looked around and quickly located what he was looking for, the snag device. he then picked it up and placed some explosives around the room then left and headed for the front door.

umbreon slowly stood up.
umbreon: “moonlight!” and he was covered in a white light and was healed instantly. “shadow ball!”
espeon: “dark hyper beam!” espeon’s beam hit umbreon’s shadow ball and flung it back at him faster than before.
umbreon dodged the attack and behind him a huge explosion went off from their attacks.
espeon: “come on, give up already, theres no way you can win against me!”
umbreon: “thats what you may think. faint attack!” umbreon suddenly disappeared.
espeon: “huh, where did he go?” umbreon popped up right behind espeon and slammed into her, and she was out. umbreon then put espeon on his back and carried her out of the building to toms car.

tom: “umbreon come on we have to hurry! what happened to espeon?”
umbreon: “I don’t know, when I got there she just attacked me. it’s like she doesn’t even recognize me, and she looks completely different.”
tom: “well we can figure this out later, but right now we have to go.” then he floored the gas peddle and they raced off. as soon as they started to drive away umbreon reached over and hit a button on a small remote control and the DCF building exploded and was covered in flames.
umbreon: “thats for ruining my manicure!”

????: “you idiots I can’t believe you let him get away! not only with the espeon, but with the snag device as well?! this is why I hire professionals.” the boss then turned to a man standing in the corner. “you have your instructions, now go and kill that guy who took off with what’s rightfully mine!”
josh: “understood.” josh then walks out of the room and began his pursuit of tom and his pokemon.

tom: “ok we need to get espeon out of here and fast!”
umbreon: “yea, but do you think she’s ok?” he said as he looked at his fingernail worriedly.
tom: “i don’t know, but I think its time we leave this town for good.”
in the backseat espeon’s color was returning back to normal.

later on,
umbreon: “hey tom! look at espeon, she’s back to normal again, and i even fixed my nail!”
tom: “ok, well thats good, but we still need a place to go.”
umbreon: “maybe we can go to the forest, i’ve heard theres a lot of hot springs.”
tom: “thats a great idea umbreon, thanks! but we’ll have to hide the car.”
umbreon: “how about over there?” he says as he nods over at an enclosed area of thick trees.

tom then hides the car and umbreon helps get rid of any evidence in it. umbreon then turns back at the car.
umbreon: “shadow ball!” the attack hit the car, destroying it and making it completely unrecognizable. “didn’t go well with my fur anyway.” he said as he started to follow tom into the forest.

espeon: “uhh... w-what happened...” she said as she started to wake up “where am I...?”
tom: “hey, i’m glad to see your awake.” tom said as he put espeon down so she could stand.
umbreon: “hey espeon! you’re okay!” umbreon said excitedly as he ran toward her and gave her a hug.
tom: “we’re in the forest, we just rescued you from the DCF.”
umbreon: “yeah, their not happy about that either.”
espeon: “thanks.” suddenly her stomach growled “man i’m hungry, do you think we can get some food?”
tom: “sure, just a second.” he reached into his backpack and took out some pokemon food and gave it to espeon.
umbreon: “hey! what about me?” he said angrily
tom: “just wait! I’m still looking for you’re food.” he then took out an expensive looking package of food specially made for umbreon, he then put it on a small trey and put it in front of umbreon. “there, happy now?”
umbreon: “yup!” he and espeon started eating their food as tom ate his sandwich.
once they were done they headed out once again trying to get as deep as possible into the forest.

josh: “I have you in my sights tom.” josh said as he took out his sniper rifle and loaded the bullet into the chamber and took aim.
tom: “hey is that smoke over that hill? maybe someone lives there! come on lets check i-” BANG, the gun shot rang throughout the forest, scaring some birds in the trees as tom fell face first into the ground blood coming from his back.
espeon: “tom! umbreon, come on, lets get him out of here!” she said as she started to pull tom up the hill
umbreon: “wait, can’t you just use you’re psychic? you know I don’t like carrying heavy things.”
espeon: “I would, but if i tried to i would faint, I still haven't recovered fully yet.”
umbreon: “come on... lets just get it over with, and you owe me for this.” umbreon then walked up and help carry tom up the hill. once they got there they saw a house at the bottom and headed for it.

josh: “sir. the target has been eliminated.” he said into a communicator on his wrist.
????: “good, come back for you’re payment.”
josh: “okay, I am on my way.”

umbreon and espeon dragged tom to the door of the house.
umbreon: “shadow ball!” the attack sent the door flying and dust flew all around.
espeon: “we could of knocked!”
umbreon: “the wood could have given me a splinter.”
????: “hey, whats the big idea? coming to my house and then just blowing up the d-” the owner of the house then saw tom who was laying in-between the two pokemon, blood still covering his back. “oh no, here come inside, he need to be taken care of fast.” she said as she picked tom up carefully and brought him inside.
she placed him on the table, then slowly managed to cut off his shirt which was stuck to his back from the sticky red mess.
pris: “my name’s priscilla by the way, pris for short.” pris said to umbreon and espeon, who were sitting by the table nervously watching. “there’s some food over there if you want it. this might take awhile so why don’t you two get something to eat and relax for now?”
umbreon: “umm, ok, but can I take a shower first?”
pris: “hey, I didn’t know you could talk! sure, the shower is right down the hall and to your left.”
umbreon: “thanks!” he then turned and headed toward the shower.
espeon: “you’re going to regret telling him where the shower is, he takes like 15 showers a day.” she said as she rolled her eyes, which caused pris to start laughing.
pris: “well, I better get back to work. his wound looks pretty deep, what happened?” espeon told her everything she could remember from her getting captured to bringing tom here.
pris: “well thats quite a story, so a bullet hit him?”
espeon: “yes... is he going to be okay?” she said worriedly
pris: “well, it doesn’t look to bad, but I don’t know...” pris then began to remove the bullet inside tom’s back.

three hours later and pris had almost cleaned up tom’s wound, the bullet already removed, when umbreon’s voice came from down the hall.
umbreon: “hey, do you have a blow dryer?”
pris: “yeah, it should be under the sink.”
umbreon: “umm... oh there it is! thank you!”
pris: “welcome.”
espeon: “so how is tom?”
pris: “well, I’ve taken out the bullet and managed to clean up his back, it looks like he’s going to make it, but it might be a few hours before he wakes up.”
espeon: “I’m glad he’s going to be okay.”
pris: “hey, if you want there’s a lake over there, if you and umbreon want to go... but it might be kinda cold still.” she said as she pointed out the window.
espeon: “I think it will be nice, and I know umbreon will love it.” espeon said mischievously.
umbreon walked into the kitchen where the two girls were talking. “so is he better?”
espeon: “yeah, he should be wake in a couple of hours.”
pris: “I see you enjoyed you’re shower.”
umbreon: “definitely, the water was perfect! man it was amazing, and your blow dryer is really nice, I need to get one for myself.”
espeon: “thats enough umbreon.”
umbreon: “hey! I was just saying how nice it was!”
espeon: “come on, I think pris needs to concentrate, lets go and do something outside.”
umbreon: “ok, it’ll give me a chance to look for those hot springs i heard about!”
the two walked out of the house as pris began to apply bandages to tom’s back.

as umbreon and espeon were walking toward the lake a huge explosion went off near them and they could hear someone yelling.
espeon: “i wonder whats going on over there...”
umbreon: “oh no, last time there was explosions, dust got all over my fur, and i ended up breaking a nail.”
espeon: “stop being such a wuss, come on, lets check it out.” espeon then turns and starts running over towards the noises.
umbreon: “you better hope nothing goes wrong...”

????: “yeah! come on blaze! show him what you’re made of!” umbreon and espeon look out across a field and see a trainer with a red bandana around his neck, a red hat and jacket, with black pants and shoes, fighting what looked like...
umbreon: “i-i-is that m-m-mewtwo?!?!?!”
espeon: “looks like it! man thats AWESOME!”
umbreon: “hey, who’s fighting mewtwo... it looks like... no, it cant be! i think thats the kanto champion!”
espeon: “really? are u sure its him?”
umbreon: “yeah im positive! i cant believe he’s actually holding his own against mewtwo!!! thats incredible!” suddenly a pulse of darkness comes flying in-between the two.
umbreon: “AH! that was TOOO close, lets get out of here!”
espeon: “you’re such a baby...” she follows umbreon, who is running back to the house.
