Don't buy used

I recently bought two used SNES controllers in the hopes that one would be good enough for speedrunning. Boy was I wrong...The first controller was completely dead except for the B button (got a full refund) and the second controller seemed fine but now the R button is extremely flakey and randomly decides to stop working. I've tried cleaning the contacts on the board, swapping out the rubber bits, and even the button itself, but nothing seems to work. I think the wires might be messed up or something but I really have no idea how to diagnose something like that.

I think I'm just going to suck it up and spend $80-$90 for a brand new controller since buying used doesn't seem to be working out. So much for trying to save money...

   Buying used is cool to be honest =P Coming from someone with thousands of dollars worth of gaming stuff! The thing is that you have to deal with honest people and, if possible, test the things yourself.
