Combo Scoring vs Raw Scoring: Not Mutually exclusi Posted on: January 10, 2014, at 02:05:27pm Thoughts are int the first comment. I started typing there before I ended up discussing combo vs raw scoring, which led me to also post in a random thought. I know I rushed through a lot of this and hit most of my arrows one judgement earlier than I normally would, but that aside I still feel like I have improved on this a lot, and improved a lot in general. It would be hasty to say D3 here I come, but then again, overall skill is more important than what a division can only generally say about skill brackets - but that is another thought entirely. ;) Any (respectfully presented) thoughts are welcome, I would love to hear what other people have to say. |

I think combo scoring is more derived from tradition rather than some objective reasoning. Yes, mashing can be an issue, but then again, FFR's engine has a lot of leniency on note timing, so mashing may be more of a technical issue than a scoring issue. I think raw score and combo score have their uses, but they're really black and white. There's no in-between scoring method that I'm aware of that we could test out to see if it's better. I don't know a whole lot about scoring methods on other rhythm games, but if it is a matter of tradition like I assume it is, combo scoring isn't going anywhere for a long time unless some big popular rhythm game makes a change for us.
