   Timer Rabbit, I didn't clean it yet... But, if you are talking about the box on top of the sensor, that I couldn't clean. It's like grease to keep it from scratching on the arrow.

   Okay, this is the up arrow next to the green diagonal arrows. There are two sensors in the middle. The panel is sitting on all of the bumpers on the outside of the arrow where in normal DDR the sensor sits. When the panel sits on these the sensors in the middle respond to the panel being stepped on. The cover there pushes down and hits both sensors. The sensors are where the normal machine's lights should be. The DDR solo mix's light are on the outside of the pad. That black stuff on the left is tape put on by the older owner or maker to cover up the connectors to the sensors!
