Decay

“Mayday, we’re all going down,”
Yells the pilot before he hits the ground.
Now he is but a grave, and atop, a rose,
Which too will someday decompose.
So sudden and strident, in plain sight,
Death comes for all as surely as night,
Ending all our hopes and fears,
As life withers, decays or disappears.
