Chapter 1
“ OH, YAH WELL F**K OFF.” Texas shouted, fleeting out of Americas home and into the raining streets of Boston. Great she sighed to herself, hailing a Taxi and telling him to go to the airport, another fight with America. Why did he HAVE to mention it, and especially in front of England? She had just met him and here America was spouting off about the war and how Texas kicked Mexico’s ass* saying, “the hero saved the day” with that idiotic grin on his face. It had annoyed her for one because she didn’t like to think of it. And two because even though her and Carlos* were on friendlier terms than during the war he still hated the fact that she had rebelled and won the revolution had severally hurt his pride. America then went on to mention the Civil War, even going as far as teasing her by calling her “Dixie”*. That had defiantly hit a nerve; Alfred knew the subject was taboo around her. Then when she made a comment she accidentally said it in a sarcastic tone, which pissed off Alfred; Texas sighed to herself once again, Spain used to say that if her tongue was any sharper she’d cut herself and unfortunately it often did. America had of course, started an argument and it escalated, resulting in her telling him off. She laid her head back rubbing her temples, and on top of it this was supposed to be her first meeting with England. He probably thought she was just a foul-mouthed, short-tempered hick now, despite her efforts to prove otherwise. The taxicab driver looked over his shoulder at her “So, you coming from home or to it?” he said in a Boston accent. She looked up at the sudden interaction “uh, goin’ back, t’ Texas. *” “Oh, a southerner don’t see someone like you around here to often. Did you like Boston?” She looked out her window gazing at the rain that was painting the city gray. “I’ was m’kay, not my first time here but it’s a change. *” “Well, I guess Boston would be different from the desert, your lucky you haven’t sat on a cactus*” She tried desperately not to punch him; it wasn’t fully his part, all Northerners thought like that but still. The Taxi stopped after reaching its destination and she handed the man the money, thanking him. She got out of the car and grabbed her suitcase full of clothes from the trunk. She WAS going to spend 2 weeks at Alfred’s but their fight the first day had put an end to that. She purchased her plane ticket and sat to wait for her plane. A couple hours later she was walking towards a Spanish villa that sat on top of a hill, she came to the front door turning the knob only to realize the door was locked. That was strange; he used to never lock it. She knocked on the door hoping she hadn’t come during Siesta*. Sure enough 5 minutes later the door opened revealing Spain’s cheery face. “Hola, Amig-“ Spain looked down at an agitated Texas with a suitcase parked behind her. “S-Stella!?!”

* America is talking about the Texas Revolution, in which Texas defeated Mexico to declare her independence

* Mexico’s human name

* A Dixie is what people in the Northern states called people in the Southern States; it’s kind of like another way to say hick

* “Uh, going back to Texas” if you cant understand

* “It was okay, not my first time here but it’s a change.”

* Excuse my mini-history lesson: Okay, in the 1800’s the Plains part of Texas was open range with no fences and Ranches were several miles apart. Everyone raised cattle because it was cheap and you could make good money. However, the train stations were usually a couple hundred miles away so the cattle would have to be drove there by cowboys. Because of this Northern states still think that Texas is like that to this day, thinking everyone wears cowboy hats and boots and that the whole state is a giant desert. Which is really annoying.

* A time in the middle of the day in Spain (and I think Mexico and Italy too, but I’m not sure) when everyone relaxes, usually used as a naptime

· Texas’s Human name
